Introduction

Why do we buy cars?
Well, Governments around the world have been telling you long enough so you should know by now, they have said that every family should own one, or even two! They are a sign to your fellow human that you are successful, that you know who you are and were you are going in life, yes, you and the car are inseparable!!!
You may buy one just to get around, not caring what make it is what engine it has or even what colour it is.
As long as it gets you from A to B you couldn't give a toss, not bothered if the wings are holed or you can see the ground passing by beneath the peddles! No as long as it starts every morning and gets you home at night and doesn't piss you off by breaking down in between it’ll do.
Or,
Do you have one because its new, bigger and better than the guy’s next door, you don’t need the thing, don’t even know much about it except it’s better than the one next door coss the salesman sold that one too!.
Or,
Maybe you know all about that motor, may be you have done your research and know it is economical, environmentally friendly, cheep to tax and insure and god awful to look at, but your doing your bit!

The trouble is that today the government fill us so full of crap that we don’t know if were coming or going. One day the are saying we all must have a car, the next we should all be sharing them or going electric or gas, wont be long before they are unveiling a new car based on a people carrier that your family and both your neighbors families can ride in, they will all have peddles while you steer!

The most recent one is we will give you 2,000 for your knackered old car against a new one, how’s That!
Well that is fine if you have the other 8-10,000 to add to it which most people don’t, which is why they were driving around in the heap to start with! Of course you can always get credit, and just think how you will be saving the planet by getting rid of that old fuel gobbling, smog polluting and environmentally damaging heap. Even the environmental movements around the world don’t swallow that load of horse shit! As they quite rightly say it cots far more in terms of the planets recourses to build new cars than it dose to keep old ones on the road, they even advocate that cars should be made to last ten years minimum. So in the end it is not about saving the world, it is about saving big business and share holders profits.

Me,
Well I buy old cars because they are all that I could ever afford and also I happen to like them, they all look different, with great character and can be kept going for a lot less than the crap that is made today.

Ok, I'll get off mi orange box now and tell you all how this site has come to be. I am an icapacitee, or a benefit grabber as some like to call us! However I am knackered, I have 5 spinal discs that have all but disintegrated and on top of that spinal arthritis (hence another wreck in the car park of life). Well heyho, it could be worse, at least I still have good days were I can potter about without too much pain, and yes the bad day's too were I have great difficulty walking. Well it was on such a bad day when I started to contemplate how much better it would be not to have to go through this anymore. When my wife said something that she would regret for quite some time to come! "Why don't you get an old car to potter about with"? So I did! Now I have my very own scrapyard......... well that's what she calls it. Now I am not a classic car restorer or owt, but I am a trained engineer/mechanic. An any project has to fit a three point criteria, 1, it has to be for very little money to buy, say nowt! 2, it has to be built using bites I have swapped or scrounged! 3, it has to interesting enough for other people to come and do all the lifting!

I have divided the site into:

car projects .....wanted.....gallery....unwanted..... Diary

ps, please don't contact me to say that you think I have done something wrong or that I should have done it another way or yours is better than mine, the wording of the answer you receive will depend on how much pain I am in! Ho, I'm dyslexic too so sorry about the spelling.

The site is merely a diary nothing more............
